who we are

what we believe

The Lord's Vineyard Church Statement of Faith

We believe that all scripture is the inspired word of God.

(2 Timothy 3:16) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

(John 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God."

(John 1:14) "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

(Matthew 24:35) "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

We believe in one God, who is revealed through the Godhead. The Father, The Son (JESUS) and the Holy Spirit.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord."

(Isaiah 45:22) Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for there is none else."

(Galations 3:20) "...God is one."

We believe that God is a Spirit

(John 4:23) "But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him."

(John 4:24) "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

(Ephesians 4:4) "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling."

We believe that God is love

(1 John 4:8) "He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love."

(Matthew 22:37) "Jesus said unto him, 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.'"

(Matthew 22:38) "This is the first and great commandment."

(Matthew 22:39) "And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

(Matthew 22:40) "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

We believe in the Father

(Ephesians 4:6) "One God and Father of us all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

(2 Corinthians 1:3) "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort."

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, The Son of the living God

(Matthew 16:16) "And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

(Matthew 16:17) "And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."

We believe in the virgin birth

(Matthew 1:23) "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

We believe in the death, burial, and ressurection of Jesus Christ

(Luke 24:6) "He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee."

(Luke 24:7) "Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation

(John 14:6) "Jesus saith unto hom, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

(John 10:9) "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

(Acts 4:12) "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

We believe in the Holy Ghost

(John 14:26) "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost

(Acts 1:5) "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."

(Acts 2:1) "And when the say of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place."

(Acts 2:4) "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

(Acts 2:39) "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

We believe Jesus was baptized

(Matthew 3:16) "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and lo heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God, descending like a dove, and lighting upon him."

We believe Jesus commanded his desciples to baptize

(Matthew 28:19) "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

We believe the desciples carried out the command of Jesus

(Acts 2:38a) "Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost."

(Acts 2:41) "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized."

(Acts 10:47) "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?"

(Acts 10:48a) "And he (Peter) commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord."

We believe in Communion

(1 Corinthians 11:26) "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

We believe in the Second coming of the Lord Jesus

(Acts 1:11) "Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

(Revelation 1:7) "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindred's of the earth wail because of him. Even so, Amen."

(1 Thessalonians 4:16) "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first."

(1 Thessalonians 4:17) "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

We believe in the Gifts of the Spirit

(1 Corinthians 12:8) "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word knowledge by the same Spirit."

(1 Corinthians 12:9) "To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same spirit."

(1 Corinthians 12:10) "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues."

The fruits of the Spirit

(Galatians 5:22) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,"

(Galatians 5:23) "Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

We believe in the five-fold ministry

(Ephesians 4:11) "And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, evangelists, and some pastors and teachers."

(Ephesians 4:12) "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."

We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust and the final judgement

(2 Corinthians 5:10) For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in body, according to that he hath done, whether it is good or bad."
